The famous Russian icon painter Ushakov created a huge number of skillful icons. His work is done in a classic church style. Icon paintings by Simon Ushakov sparkle with gold and precious stones. The master was able to choose the right colors to convey the magnificence of biblical characters and scenes. One of his beautiful works is the icon of the Virgin of Vladimir.

The image of Mary with little Jesus is a popular icon-painting plot. The icon of Ushakov in 1652 stands out in a series of similar creations. The painter created a two-sided icon. On its back is the Calvary Cross. The front side is a composition inscribed in a vertical rectangle. Our Lady embraces the Baby, who, in turn, also reaches out to her.

S. F. Ushakov used warm golden hues in the picture. Mary's clothes are dark - saturated brown, decorated with a gold border. Little Christ is clothed in a yellow robe tied with a bronze belt.

The icon is accompanied by traditional graphic inscriptions at the head of the characters. Golden nimbuses are clearly delineated by rounded frames. The composition as a whole is simple, but despite this it conveys the deep spiritual content of the portrait.

The faces of the main biblical characters are full of feelings and emotions. On the face of the mother, prophetic sorrow for the son is noticeable. The eyes read love and tenderness for the very native creation. The child in her arms gazes faithfully at the face of her mother. Despite such a young age, one can see wisdom and calm in its features.

The icon "Our Lady of Vladimir" was originally located in Zamoskvorechye, in the church of the Archangel Michael. Now it can be seen in the Tretyakov Gallery. Magnificent in conception and execution, the picture is clear to all believers. Art lovers far from religion will also appreciate this wonderful creation by Ushakov’s brush.
